Temporary Protected Status

Temporary Protected Status ("TPS") is an immigration benefit provided by the Department of Homeland Security ("DHS") to nationals of certain countries that allows them to stay and work in the United States.

TPS can be granted to you regardless of whether you are here legally or not. In addition, you will be eligible to work in the United States, and in some cases travel outside of the United States. You cannot be removed from the United States if you have TPS.

The nationals of the following countries may be eligible for TPS: Burundi, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan.

The DHS Secretary has just announced that she will be designating Syria for TPS. Therefore, all Syrian nationals that are present in the United States from the date of the designation onward are eligible.

If you are a national of the aforementioned countries and would like to see if you qualify, please contact our offices for a consultation.
